It has been a common problem now a days that many websites are not loading up and blue bar does not fill u p .Some common websites like google.com , facebook.com also does not load. I had the same problem and searched many places for solution but didn't get any solution for mac. Finally i did some troubleshooting steps myself and it actually worked.
Here are the steps to be followed

STEP 1 :-
1) Open terminal (by searching in the spotligth or under apple icon at the top ) .
2)Enter following code
OS X Mountain Lion or Lion or Mavericks
Use the following Terminal command to reset the DNS cache:

sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder

    Mac OS X v10.6

Use the following Terminal command to reset the DNS cache:

sudo dscacheutil -flushcache
3)Press enter key or return key.

STEP 2 :-
1)Open finder and click on go in the right top menu and click on OPTION key  .
2) Open library from that .
3) In that delete following folder contents Caches, logs, cookies and delete them.
4) Open preferences and find
com.apple.systempreferences.plist
 and delete it .

STEP 3 :-
1) Open SYSTEM PREFEERENCES and go to network tab.
2)At the click on arrow mark near to the LOCATION .

Help!
I'm in Johannesburg. Chrome, Firefox and Safari all won't open a bank's homepage. I've checked on other computers and the site is fine. I've cleared caches through Chrome and Firefox - no difference. Also perhaps related, audio has stopped working on Vimeo, at first just with Safari but now with Firefox too.

So I thought following your 3-step program might work... but I'm a little wary even from STEP 1, as Terminal warns me I could wipe out important system stuff if the sudo command is wrong. I'm on MAC OSX 10.8.3.
Then in STEP 2 - there is no "options" under "go" in finder?
I presume in step 3, the settings will pop up under location once 1&2 are completed?
I need to be able to online bank so this is driving me crazy but I also don't want a system crash...
Can you help?
Thanks!

I am a OSX mavericks user and i also had experienced the problem for 2 months . You just try out the step 3 separately , by starting a new location and creating new setting . You can directly follow step 3 as 1 and 2 are not interconnected with that.
If step 3 works then fine but if it doesnot try fluship out as indicated in step 1 as it only removes corrupted or damaged cache files it migth help you to solve problem.

Thanks for quick response. Step 3 sounds the simplest... when you click location then + to add one, all i get is 'untitled' -- do i just create that and that's that?

And in Step 2 i suggested for holding on to the "option key " on the keyboard to get the library option ( it is hidden normally, when you click the option key the library will pop up ) open it and follow the step 2.
thank you .

Yah you can name it whatever you want . Sometimes the settings in your particular location may be corrupted and it migth be the issue so try using new location and creating a untitle (or rename it to whatever you want) and click "+" option and create it .Try it and tell me whether it works .
Thank you.

Tried the three steps and still can't get my computer to work! I know it's not the network because the issue has been reproduced with three different connections... it all started when I updated to 10.9.2. I guess my only option now is to format. Thanks for the steps, though!

Hi, I was away for a bit. Oddly unless I'm suffering from false memory syndrome, I could open tmy bank's deliquent site when I tried once out of the country. Now back, I've got the same problem.
I'm starting here with Step 3 again but don't understand what's meant by "customize the new location". Did the rest - nothing happened... do I need to restart computer?

Think I'll try step 1. Thanks! I'll let you know.

Hi, I was away for a bit and unless I'm suffering from false memory syndrome, I could open my bank's delinquent site when I tried once while out of the country. Now back, I've got the same problem. If the one troublesome site was working elsewhere, it isn't working here & now.
I'm starting back with Step 3 again but don't understand what's meant by "customize the new location". I did the rest - nothing happened... do I need to restart computer for it to take effect?

Think I'll try step 1 in the meantime as I'm pretty desperate to access that site. Thanks! I'll let you know.

I tried step1 in the meantime as I'm pretty desperate to access that site. But terminal wouldn't go through with the command. It prompted me for a password, but I've never given one to my computer... Everything else installs by just pressing return but Sudo is not accepting the lack of a password.

Any further guidance? Thanks
